MARQUEE PROJECTS opened its doors in 2017. The gallery exhibits and represents a cross-section of both accomplished emerging artists and more established artists from around the United States, all of whom push boundaries in concept, material, and medium. Since the gallery’s inception, gallery director and artist, Mark Van Wagner, has curated the majority of the 30 shows to date, but has also invited guest curators to create exhibits that feature cutting-edge abstraction, conceptual work, installation, sculpture, photography, and music and performance art.

John Perreault, Untitled, 2013, Acrylic on canvas, 36x48 inches

Throughout his illustrious career, John Perreault was always an explorer.

As a poet, artist, performer, curator, museum director, composer, teacher, and most notably as an art critic, he never shied away from anything in the art world. He always seemed to push the boundaries, and his practice as a painter and sculptor were no exception. This painting was made two years prior to Perrault's death. Like a lot of artists in their later years, Perreault reveled in the unobstructed freedom he found – creating works that were fresh and care free.

Price: 7,500 USD
