NEW YORK, USA
The Foley Gallery brings together fine line and obsessive precision in the disciplines of drawing, cut paper, painting, and photography. Founded in 2004, the gallery is positioned in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in a former glove and belt wholesaler, "Hand in Glove."
Bradley Castellanos shares his recollections from his time in Florida with pulsing colors from oils and acrylics coupled with a photographic rendition in a fantastical translation of the natural world. Parts of the photograph are delicately cut away to reveal an underpainting with vibrant colors. Overlaying paint and collage to the surface creates a near psychedelic experience.
"For more than 400 years, the Fairchild Oak has silently observed the events along Bulow Creek — serving as a noble guard of the area’s magnificent environment. Nearly two centuries ago, in 1836, the neighboring Bulow Plantation was destroyed during the Second Seminole War. And still, the Fairchild Oak stands strong."
