Capturing the beauty of transformation, the empty cocoon represents the completed process of change and its success. The brightness of the colors celebrate the transition from one state of being to another and honors its glorious unfoldment. The arrangement of the cocoons within the circular shape represents unity and connection. The contrast in colors creates a center point in which to focus the mind. It is within the cocoon, in isolation, and in silence, where the metamorphosis happens. This is true for the human mind as well. Combined with the extraordinary power of meditation and introspection, one can quiet their ego, loosen their grip on the thoughts to which they cling, allow them to be met with the light within, and be completely transformed. From limiting beliefs based in fear which restrict the human being, toward beliefs of love which empower and free them.
Reminding the viewer of the powerful potential of self reflection, the artwork invites the individual to look within and to retreat into the stillness of the cocoon of their mind. It is here where the peace can be found, their spirits can be lifted, giving them a new found perspective in which to better approach the chaotic, outside world.
Similar to a mandala and its incredible potential to assist in the practice of meditation, the Birth of an Ideas series expands on this tool by incorporating nature into its structure. The abundance of cocoons provides an example to the viewer of transformation, giving support to the individuals own endeavors of healing and expansion.
The Birth of An Idea series suggests to the viewer to pause and remember the healing power of stillness and silence within them.
