Cyril Le Van composes a plastic artwork by using photography to reproduce in actual size and three dimensions some objects of daily life, symbols of belonging to a group, a social or cultural identity, or characteristic of our age. The artist photographing from all sides Nike sneakers, Vuitton bags, Adidas T-shirt, Rolex watches... then print those on a rigid support and finally recreate those objects with stitches or staples. So you have a new object, fake but extremely attractive. His work, mixed between New Realism and Pop Art tries to recreate the identity uneasiness of our society full of logos, pictures but lack of benchmarks. Cyril Le Van blurs the limits between art and popular culture by primarily he is using the brand concept to discuss about globalization, consumerism et their impacts on our society.
