Marc von der HochtA New Generation of Abstract Painting

In our times that meanwhile have overcome the one real world, however, being defined  by various simultaneous worlds, real and virtual, space and time have extended to new experiences.

The young German painter Marc von der Hocht mirrows this aspect of simultaneity and dynamic forces in his paintings and collages, and in his entire body of works (i.e. machine sculptures, light installations, and more). The collages per se – the general character of which developed already during Modernism – represent the notion of combining different aspects of the world, expressed by the materials involved as well as and their origins. Marc von der Hocht's commitment to this medium has encouraged him to define and develope his paintings into a new, yet unseen dynamic portrait of abstract tectonic landscapes. They represent a unique formal language enforced by the material of industrial glossy paint, creating a beautiful up-to-date experience of delicately juxtaposed and differentiated colors and forms within a forceful dynamic setting.
His first US-appearance at Volta NY focuses on his paintings; however, through a wall-size photographic image of a recent installation an impression of his capacity is imparted how to develope a gesamtkunstwerk defined by paintings, collages and his 'interweaving' architectural structures of a buttress-system, elevating the already 'spatial' painting into space, into our world.
