İrfan Önürmen: First of all, this installation is inspired by my own studio space’s natural environment in its privacy. Artist studios naturally collect both results of the production and its residues. Assuming that every knowledge and thought is somehow conserved, along with every other emotion, our projects, pains, loves, hopes are also hidden inside of us somewhere. The basic idea behind this installation is to exhibit and open a discussion of the dialectical relationship concerning the process of my productions in all its bifurcations, integrations and diffusions. Thinking in terms of my artistic development I would say the structure moving from the picture surface towards the depths of material bears the production of a common apprehension, which at first appears to be unrelated and different.
I believe the elements between them are translucent, fragile and fragmented. I expect the work to emphasize and ask questions about the differing meanings of the images that belong to the several strata of reality. In order to emphasize this, I took up my past and journeyed into my history. In this way the work might bear within itself the multi layered metaphors that hide and reveal at the same time. This installation gives me a channel to show the formal and conceptual relationships between different periods of my work which consist of sequences and juxtapositions as well as intense flashbacks. However, in order to provide a new ground in my own development it may also be a brand new beginning. Human condition lies at the center of my work and social references form one of my most important topics. I am well aware of the fact that I am shaped after the unstable and hectic political conditions of the geographical place in which I live. Accordingly, I think the very feel of diffusion is reflected from my work is a direct reference to the disintegrating and diffusing state of the society where I reside and me.
