For Volta 2009, Josephine Halvorson will present a new group ofpaintings. Intimately sized and painted perceptually, they reflect acommunion between artist and object, revealing intrinsic histories andcreating new ones. Halvorson received a MFA from Columbia University,NY; BFA from The Cooper Union, NY and was the recipient of a FulbrightFellowship to Vienna in 2003-4. She recently completed a yearlongresidency at the Fondation des Etats-Unis, Paris, France. Her work hasbeen exhibited at Monya Rowe Gallery, Taxter & Spengemann and SikkemaJenkins & Co. Halvorson lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
