All the President's girls
Nearly every president of the United States has had, or at least it has been
speculated that he has had, a mistress – or even a few. This
project depicts these women.
The average man or woman is plagued by feelings of helplessness and
Anxiety, in part stemming from our reliance on others for security. We fear
that our leaders will take us into war or cause the destruction of the
planet. We long for them to do the right thing and are horrified by their
stupidity. ...Our fate lies in their hands and when scandal emerges our
insecurity is exacerbated as we realise that we are reliant on these people
who like us are human and vulnerable.
My work centers on the role of the individual in inherited and/or inherent
belief systems and delves into the duality of truth and falsehood. The
portraits may or may not be based on real documentation and I like the fact
that there are questions about the validity of the rumours in some cases.
Can we ever know the truth?
