David Ersser

Recent works by Ersser constitute installations, rendered in pallid balsa wood, that recreate environments or situations. Conceived for the environment of an art fair, Ersser’s new work titled The Ideal Home Show has produced the components of a room, littered with the debris of day to day living and the tools for passing time. Perhaps set in the 90’s, the floor is strewn with beer cans and procrastination, the display hints at an anti-Ikea showroom, resisting the show-home’s order and utopianism by detailing the ashtray full of crushed cigarettes.

Recent shows include Nothing But Heavy Duty, a gallery space caught mid construction, with balsa power tools and balsa raw materials, at Roebling Hall. Forthcoming projects include a solo show at SEVENTEEN in October 2008.
